MR. BIG, EXTREME, GENESIS Guitarists To Battle It Out At Japan's GUITAR WARS

Former MR. BIG/current RACER X guitarist Paul Gilbert will be teaming up with Nuno Bettencourt (ex-EXTREME) and Steve Hackett (ex-GENESIS) for a couple of shows in Japan under the banner "Guitar Wars". However, despite the event's billing, "there will be no actual fighting, only music," Gilbert writes on his web site.

"Guitar Wars" tour dates:

Aug. 29 - Tokyo, JAP @ Akasaka BLITZ
Sep. 01 - Osaka, JAP @ Namba Hatch

As previously reported, Gilbert will be joining forces with DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy as well as Dave LaRue (DIXIE DREGS, PLANET X) on bass and Daniel Gildenlöw (PAIN OF SALVATION) on vocals in a one-off LED ZEPPELIN tribute band, HAMMER OF THE GODS, which will appear at the Montreal Drum Festival on Friday, November 7. A "warm-up" gig that will be open to the general public may take place a few days prior to the festival. More details will be made available soon.
